About the Student Forum

Students are a key constituency of the RDI Network, and we extend a special opportunity for them to be involved in the conference through the hosting of a Student Forum as a side event.

The ‘Leadership for Inclusive Development’ theme aims to explore both what leadership is and what it does from diverse perspectives. We see leadership as having individual, collective and society wide dimensions, thus allowing personal and global perspectives to be addressed at the same time. The purpose of the Student Forum is to create a participatory space for students to:

  • Contribute to discussions and debates on Leadership for Inclusive Development; and
  • Identify what actions can be taken forward by students.

Participants in the Student Forum will include both domestic and international students and the Forum will be open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students with an interest in global development, sustainable development, humanitarian assistance and social justice.

The Student Forum will be held on 11 June 2019 at La Trobe University - Bundoora campus.

You can register through the main registration page.

TOPICS TO BE EXPLORED IN THE STUDENT FORUM:

1) How leadership is understood in your context? and, how do students become an active agent in the development sector for effective leadership?

2) How do individual values influence leadership practices? and, which skills do students need to develop to be a leader?

3) What does inclusion means in your context? Are we leaving anyone behind?

4) Are there any challenges regarding practices in the developing sector? If so, what are the challenges and how can they be better addressed?
